Should IDFs be daisy chained or should each one have a home run to the MDF?

I’ve always wondered what the proper method is.

For example, is option 1 or 2 correct?

Option 1: MDF to IDF1, MDF to IDF2, MDF to IDF3

OR

Option 2: MDF to IDF1, IDF1 to IDF2, IDF2 to IDF3

Please explain why, I haven’t been able to find a reason online. If one IDF goes down, then the ones that are daisy chained go down. That’s the only reason I have to NOT daisy chain.
