Fiber testing. What do you guys think of testing with segments in the middle?

I've got an OTDR and a launch cable. Single mode ST-to-SC.

I also want to be able to use an ST-to-ST coupler and then use an ST-to-LC coupler for when I need to test an LC connection.

I also have various fiber paths with different numbers of LIUs in between them.

What do you guys think about testing with various jumps/stops along the entire fiber path? Will it be an accurate test? Will it definitely show major errors? Etc.

I'm especially wondering about the coupler/patch cable bit (connecting it to the launch cable).
