Hello, I have been in desktop support for some time and my company is working to bring RSTP to some of our customers networks. A question I am being asked to find the answer to is one that doesn't seem to appear online anywhere, leading me to believe it may be irrelevant/ obvious.
If I have a switch configured in an RSTP network, can I still plug in non-RSTP devices to the switch and have everything still work?
As far as I know, you have to designate ports for RSTP and you can have several RSTP rings on one switch. That makes me think that the other ports (non-RSTP) are not involved in the spanning tree and should operate as normal. Is this the case? Thank you
