The situation:
I’ve got a fiber connection supplied by our electric company between two long distance locations. About 10 miles.
I first tried SFP to establish a link and it failed. After many struggles, I tried out the only media converters I had on hand: two 10/100 converters. Worked perfectly.
Now I’m attempting to swap those out for gigabit because we’re needing the bandwidth. I pretty much gave up on SFP after not having any success, so I got two gigabit converters. No go. I made sure they’re single mode. I’m not really sure what else to look for other than SM and max distance (which I’m within).
Anyone have any suggestions?
