What do you mean you don’t care?

This is the story of the “I don’t care” IT person.

I work in a shared building that has dedicated doors for each of the two businesses. But it has one closet room for both Dmarks. With separate racks and walls where everything is. The guy came in last week and said:

IDC- “hey I guess I should tell you that I have 3 computers on your network.”

$me. I said ok well that has to change, so do you want to come in and move it?

IDC- just unplug them. I’ll get adapters.

$me- ok I’ll give you until next week

Next week

$me- unplug wires first thing in morning. Than I get an angry call asking if I changed anything from IDC.

$me I unplugged the 3 Ethernet cables

IDC- half my power went out. And My smart Blu-ray player isn’t working. Fix it.

$me-well come over and tone some things and get your stuff up.

IDC- uhhh I don’t tone

$me- what?

IDC- I don’t tone. And I’m going to have “cable company” come out and run all new lines for my network. But you need to fix the power.

$me- umm I have a change log. I only touched those three Ethernet cables. And I’m not an electrician.

IDC- well tone your stuff.-click

As he hangs up on me I just ponder if that really happened. And I go back to my servers and switches were it is safe from guys like him.
