I probably should have asked this question first here, rather than r/Cisco, so as to avoid confirmation bias, or its inverse :-)
With the advent of cloud-enabled network gear (i.e. Meraki, Ubiquiti, Google's home WiFi APs, Palo Alto Networks, etc.) and the Software Defined Networking (SDN) movement, how much investment in the classic Cisco IOS, "do everything on the console" world is justified?
Where I work, people are saying "Well, when that 2960 goes EOL, we may as well replace it with a Meraki." How does this bode for the world of CCNA/CCIE etc.?
