Cisco 9300 with Satellite Server for Smart licensing

Hi guys, I need some help.
I have 9300, which is currently in production with some critical servers. Current IOS is 16.8.1a which doesn't support smart licensing. So if I upgrade 9300 to support smart licensing will there be any impact like 9300 - have limited functionality till it will sync licence from Satellite.
