Hello All, I am having trouble with Chromecasts in a small network.
My current network setup is:
pFsense box (HP 800 G3 with a 4 port intel NIC)
an HP 2530 switch
and 2 unifi APs (one is a Wireless Uplink)
Chromecasts connected to one SSID/VLAN and my phones and other devices connecting to another. Following this rough guide: https://help.ubnt.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001004034-UniFi-Best-Practices-for-Managing-Chromecast-Google-Home-on-UniFi-Network With differances being that I am using an HP switch with igmp enabled and querier disabled (also tried turning querier on) on the switch, and then Avahi running on my pfsense box to route between the subnets.
The solution seems to be working just fine with 1 AP, and I have not seen any issues. However, when I introduce the second AP into the mix, clients cant discover the Chromecast devices. This was the case before I followed the guide above and had everything in the same subnet as well as after I segmented the two.
Is it something with how wireless uplink works that is breaking mDNS? I have tried enabling and disabling IGMP on the two wireless networks as well. Very confused. Would like to get this working correctly.
Thanks for any help or information that can lead me to a solution!! Nick
