Risk of placing access layer endpoint on Core/Distribution layer

Like many of the folks here on /r/networking, I work in an environment where people would rather things be done quickly instead of correctly. One of those major issues is that management believes it is OK to put single points of failure and access layer devices onto the Core routers. I have many times advised against this, mostly due to problems this will cause in the event that device goes down or needs to be replaced when it becomes EoL.

What are some good reasons I can dumb down to explain why this shouldn't be done?
