Cisco ISE + MAC OS X + EAPoL Server Died

So I'm trying to figure out a weird issue with Cisco ISE. I've mentioned this in a previous post, but I wanted to follow up with /r/networking on this. Going through the logs our team came accross this line:

  • EAPoLController server died
  • EAPoLController died

This is the first time I've seen this issue on the clients machines. And I'm now realizing that, when debugging 802.1x on the cisco switch, I'm not seeing any any EAPoL sessions inititated on the switch or in ISE.

It seems I have 99 problems. 4 are ISE network login related:

  1. A first time user logs in and it doesn't immediately authenticate within ise.
  2. A user logs in, but doesn't immediately authenticate within ISE.
  3. A machine wakes up from sleep mode and a user cannot log in immediately.
  4. A user reboots there machine and cannot log in immediately.

I'm stunned and stumped at what to do with this.
