Vlan forwarding problem

Greetings

II am trying to get a vlan working between a pfsense box and an Ubuntu 18 live session. (Ubuntu 18 problem: screen saver must be off still will get activities upper left button disappearing-->ctrl-alt-f1 then 'relogin' works)

Pfsense = sg1100 box w/ 3 eth ports The lan port has vlan of 'mvneta.4091'

On Ubuntu, I created (in default network namespace):

sudo ip link add link enp3s0 name enp3s0.1 type vlan protocol 802.1q Id 4091

I moved emp3s0.1 to new network namespace x. I turned on enp3s0.1 AND lo on in x. I assigned 192.168.1.63 to enp3s0.1 But no amount of route fiddling would work. (Don't add new 4091 vlan in default ns won't work) I tried sysctl. Nothing.
