Hi all,
We're a large on-premise OpenStack based cloud deployment (10,000s of VMs) focused on using mainly opensource products, and currently looking for a local and global load balancer. While in the local load balancer there seem to be a lot of solutions (OpenStack Octavia, HAproxy, NGINX+, a ton of other open source projects), in the GSLB area there seem to be, well, none.
Feature-wise, we'd like to achieve more than the basic "Programmable DNS with RR" (where you have a monitoring service which samples local load balancers or servers and creates/deletes DNS records on the DNS server accordingly), and have features like different load balancing algorithms (number of connections, application load, etc.), built it monitoring, high availability etc.
I saw Polaris (https://github.com/polaris-gslb/polaris-gslb) but with 150 commits this is hardly production ready. Other than that - I can't find any open source or vendor solutions that would fit our needs. What does the open community do with on-prem deployments with GSLB? Any helps, recommendations or thoughts are appreciated.
