What do you use for endpoints in network labs?

I'm hoping to find a relatively cheap solution to act as endpoints (PCs) when building out network labs for testing. What do you use to simulate these devices in a lab environment? it's a hard sell to borrow/buy 5 to 15 laptops to ping, or send traffic to just for lab purposes in my organization. Does anyone know if a company out there makes a "drone" device that can be statically assigned an IP (easily), or configured to use DHCP to pull an IP? I'm basically looking for a NIC with an input device for changing NIC properties :-) I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks!
