I was recently laid off as a network engineer in the DC space. Going through the job search I have noticed that the traditional network engineer position is vastly changing. Companies no longer want someone who just knows networking and hardware. They want someone who knows all the traditional stuff plus experience with public cloud / automation / scripting / SDN
What would you recommend focusing on these days to make yourself stand out from the crowd ? I am currently enrolled in a python class as my scripting knowledge is pretty much limited to bash and I know python is the most used language in network automation.
