A while ago a colleague and I were discussing different types of port security configurations, we discussed the generic ones like MAC address security, port shutdown, protect etc...
But he mentioned quite an interesting protocol and it’s application would be quite useful if applied correctly (I believe it’s aCisco proprietary protocol)
Due to my short term memory I’ve forgotten the name of the protocol but the function is rather clear,
Essentially, it’s a certificate based protocol that creates a “three way” handshake with a server, a switch and then the device. (Workstation, WAPS, cctv camera etc)
Applying this protocol would work wonders for external network devices, such as cctv and other devices.
I just can’t figure out what this protocol is, any input would be great. (Yes I could just ask him, but he no longer works with the company)
