I have a 500Mb lit by provider Ethernet circuit that we want to test before bringing into service. Right now one side is on an Cisco ASR1001 and the other side is a Cisco 3925. I don't want to bring up EIGRP/BGP for this circuit until we are sure it is running traffic without errors/drops. So right now I have a /30 IP Address on each side and I was doing the following:
Cisco ASR1001: ping ip 192.168.0.2 size 9000 repeat 10000 source Gi0/1
Cisco 3925: ping ip 192.168.0.1 size 9000 repeat 10000 source Gi0/0/1
This is successful but it only gets me about 3.5Mb/sec usage. I'd like to see at least 100Mb/sec or higher without affecting the CPU. I am thinking IP SLA but I am not sure that is the right way to go about it. Looking for the reddit networking community for ideas. Thanks!
