Hi There,
I'm trying to understand the differences between IPSec and GRE. From what I've gathered so far:
- IPSec does encryption, but does not support Multicasting, needed for Routing Protocols like EIGRP
- GRE does not encrypt data, but does support Multicasting
Based on this, if I was to leverage an IPSec tunnel (without GRE), would that mean that on each end of the tunnel I'd need to specify the routing table entries so that the traffic goes over the IPSec Tunnel? (i.e., on Router 1, I'd need to specify that traffic going to network 10.10.0.0 needs to go to Router 2, the IPSec Termination Point)
Is that the main advantage of using GRP + IPSec? (And the only major difference between the two)
