Tips on briefing non-technical executives

I'm in a managerial position where I have to give regular briefings on network status, outages, fix actions, etc to high-level, non-technical executives. I typically have 1-2 mins to explain complex issues succinctly and hopefully leave no room for questions that could lead us down a rabbit hole.

Has anyone found a good "formula" that works for them when briefing technical issues to non-technical people?
