I have a SNAT question regarding SNAT naming.I've been calling it Floating SNAT, but I am unsure if that is the correct SNAT nomenclature...
Let's say you have a SNAT configuration: Where your SNAT-capable device has an IP address:100.64.0.100/24 - It uses a gateway of 100.64.0.1. It SNATs internal IP addresses (RFC1918) via an external IP-Pool that exists within the 100.64.0.0/24 range. I tend to refer to this as a L2-SNAT - or an ARP-SNAT.Is this the correct name? (The SNAT device performs an ARP for the external-SNAT address.)
Now lets say, you form a BGP peering and advertise the prefix 100.64.0.0/24 (or whatever control-plane you want...) via, lets say, 100.64.1.0/30 and use the 100.64.0.0/24 as your external pool. I tend to refer to this SNAT as floating SNAT - as the pool follows my L3 advertisements...
I am not sure if this SNAT configuration is common but I am curious what the proper SNAT name would be?
