Hi All,
I have a RIP question. (We are using HP 2920 switches). We are using RIP for three point to point sites. Imagine it as a triangle. So if one link dies, the traffic is router the longer route.
Now we currently have default timers in place for RIP, but this is an incredibly long time until RIP converges
I know I can change the update time on the switch to something smaller, say 10 seconds. The update timer is the only thing that it will let me change
I know timers are like this, as default
30 Seconds Update
180 seconds Invalid (30x6)
180 Seconds Hold down
240 seconds flush (From first invalid timer)
So if I change the update timer to 10 seconds, would I be correct with the below?
10 Seconds Update
60 Seconds Invalid (10x6)
60 Hold down
80 Seconds Flush
If I do go ahead and make this change, I will need to do the change on every switch participating in RIP? Would this affect a VRRP pair during the changes?
Thank you
