PPPOE over switches?

I'm in the UK and we're getting FTTP in the next few days. Now the ISP has provided me with a rubbish router to plug into the Openreach modem.

I was hoping to ditch this and use the Unifi Security Gateway we have, but the two bits of equipment are not physically in the same room. From what I have read, the Openreach equipment uses PPPOE - will this traverse switches in the same way IP does?

IE can I do this?:

Openreach Modem <---> Ubiquiti Edgeswitch <---> Ubiquiti Edgeswitch <---> Unifi Security Gateway Wan Port
