I realize this is kind of off-topic for r/Networking, but hear me out. :) I'm assuming at least some of you use MacBook Pros for day-to-day work. I'd like some input on what USB-C Ethernet adapters you guys use since they seem to be hit-or-miss and I need some input from my fellow network geeks.
I've been using a Anker Gigabit USB-C adapter which I love, it captures well in WireShark and I can run it up to full gigabit speeds without so much as a dropped packet. However, recently I found that it interferes with 2.4Ghz wifi (I have a video that's kind of interesting if anyone wants to see it).
I'm in France currently for work so I bought another off-brand USB-C adapter from the local "BestBuy" that doesn't have the interference problem but it occasionally turns itself off (for lack of a better description) for what can't be more then a millisecond. It's nothing I would have noticed doing normal day-to-day work but when the adapter disappears it kills a WireShark capture.
When I first got this laptop about a year ago I tried another USB-C Gigabit Ethernet adapter from Amazon, but I couldn't get it to actually perform at gigabit speeds ... or even 100-Mbit speeds for that matter.
What ethernet adapters have you guys had success with?
