Just bought a new router, did I do good?

I just bought a "Linksys AC1300 Dual-Band Router" from amazon for $149.99.

Model No. E7500

Is this router good or a piece of garbage? I haven't even opened the box yet. I am switching from Spectrum to Verizon Fios. I am currently using Spectrum's equipment and their router. Switching to FIOS I told them I'd use my own router instead of renting theirs!

I need 5GHz because the congestion is INSANE here! I just want to know if this router has good coverage + speed.

Also, I have a 3-year old linksys wireless G router, can I cascade these two? How does that work?

I would appreciate some feedback hopefully before Saturday Aug 11th, because if you guys recommend something better for the same price or this router is not good. I will return it.
