Hello everyone.
I'm looking for a L3 switch mostly for VLAN routing and would like some advice.
Right now, we are running with a L2 switch and a pfSense machine as a router (router on a stick) - this setup works fine, allowing us to create very specific rules for the VLAN routing. Unfortunately, this setup doesn't scale very well and we would like to migrate this job to a L3 switch.
Requirements:
- 48x 1 GBe Copper
- at least 2x SPF+
I've compiled a list of models that I think would fit but I'm really surprised how costly most of them are.
- Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch Lite (ES‑48‑LITE): fits all requirements and is cheap, but supports only 100 ACLs in total and 10 per port.
- HPE 1950 48G 2SFP+ 2XGT (JG961A): expensive (3x the price of Ubiquti), support a lot of ACLs (512). Probably more reliable than Ubiquiti.
- Aruba 2930F 48G 4SFP+ Switch (JL254A): insanely expensive (4x the Ubiquiti price), could not found the ACL limit. Similar to HPE in reliability.
- Cisco: Could not get a quote.
Should I just go with the cheap Ubiquiti and work with the ACL limitation or try to get more budget for the big brands?
Thanks!
