CCENT/CCNA Virtual Lab options

Hi everyone, I am currently studying to take the CCENT/CCNA exams. Currently going through Ross Bagurdes’s Pluralsight modules and will be picking up the study guide soon.

I’m currently a sys analyst, I have a home lab set up with UBNT UniFi switches but I’m not sure if it makes sense for me to invest in old Cisco gear for training purposes. I don’t really have any more space left at home either. I’m confident in my abilities to plug things in and I know my way around a data center and a network rack. My manager may pay for a virtual lab subscription but absolutely wont pay for old Cisco equipment off eBay.

So my question is, would it make sense to go with a virtual lab option? What would you recommend as a solid option for studying to take these exams? I’ve read good and bad things about VIRL and GNS3 so any insights would be appreciated.

Also anything else I should be considering before scheduling these exams in the next 12 months?

Thanks in advance!
