Arista Switch - Do you need to do anything special to enable SFP+ transceivers?

I have an old Arista switch with a QFSP port - I plugged in a QSFP to SFP+ adapter, then a SFP+ fibre optical transceiver.

Orange lights underneath that port all come up as soon as I plug that in.

I then plugged in a SM fibre cable from that to a Meraki switch that also has the same SFP+ transceiver on the other end. However, the Meraki isn't showing it as connected.

I assume there's something I can do on Arista side to troubleshoot if it picked up the transceiver correctly?
