Is there a protocol that can wrap a TCP connection to guarantee packet order? I expect it would buffer packets and so add latency, but that is fine.
We have some devices that worked fine on an old ATM network, but we've found that after moving them to an IP network are having issues. I believe it to be caused by resetting and reopening the same port for each connection within 2-3 microseconds as evidenced by packet captures.
Are there any protocols that would emulate an ATM network or otherwise guarantee packet order?
