Hey all,
Typically I'm used to setting up a VPC from one switch to both cores, or from a FEX to both cores. In this setup though, we have two HP servers that seem to be doing some NIC teaming. FWIW, traffic is coming in untagged and only one one VLAN, so I had created an access port channel. Both servers use the same subnet. I was getting issues with using LACP (channel mode active) and used channel mode on which had the port channel come up, but that probably means nothing. I should probably have more experience with this, but unfortunately I do not.
Quick backtrack: Nexus 5500s at the core (1 & 2), 2 HP servers "bonded at the server level" (quote from server engineer). VPC running on the core and working to our HP chassis with FEX and to other switches.
Configuration basically looks like this:
CORE-1
interface port-channelxxx description xxx switchport mode access switchport access vlan xxx vpc xxx
interface Ethernet100/1/xx description xxx switchport access vlan xxx channel-group xxx mode on
interface Ethernet100/1/xx description xxx switchport access vlan xxx channel-group xxx mode on
CORE-2 has same exact setup.
HSRP running as well. Right now without the interfaces belong to a port-channel, everything is up and working but you do not see any traffic coming/going to Core-2
