For some time, I have been looking at setting up redundancy on a main site's WAN connection. We have had several ISP outages this year. When the main site goes down, the sister site goes down.
To fix that, I planned on getting another ISP connection and configure SonicWall's built-in load balancing to combine the two or at least allow for rollover in case one connection fails.
While on the phone with an ISP talking about subscribing, he said they could provide an SD-WAN unit and it's probably superior to any firewall solution. It's the first I've heard of SD-WAN. I am wondering the advantages (if any) of SD-WAN over Load Balancing?
