Hello /r/networking
Sysadmin with limited networking experience checking in - I need your help redesigning a existing network to do the best with what I have available.
First, the existing situation, diagram here. (I'm sorry, it's not my work). Equipment is all HPE/Aruba 2530G models, the provider supplied router is a Cisco ME3600X. Interconnects between comms rooms are limited. Only room A and B have a interconnect to the separate room where the provider router is. Whole network is simple layer two, a few VLANs existing on all switches.
Primary goal for this redesign is redundancy, we had two switches failing in the last 6 months, taking down the whole building due to everything being cascaded. Purchasing new equipment, running new lines etc is not an option - I have to make do with what I have.
What would you say to something like this? Anything major I'm missing? As far as I can see, that should get rid of all SPOFs except of course the provider router. STP is manually disabled on all switches ATM but with STP (using the provider router as root bridge), I should be able to build the network with redundancy and loop-free, right?
Open for suggestions of course.
