Does modern fiber equipment that are capped at 100 mbit exists?

I have a multimode(?)-fiber based network from my provider, i estimate that i am around 200-300 meters from the central. I got told their equipment only support 100 mbit, no faster speeds. So i got curious, is that even possible? This was built in 2012, could you even get fiber-based equipment at the time with a max speed of 100mbit? This baffles me somewhat. (Not looking for help with anything in particular, I was just curious).
