Learning Cisco

Hi All,

I work for an MSP currently and have dealt with a various array of switches including Netgear, Ubiquiti, Zyxel and HP. However im looking constantly to improve knowledge and expand my potential and I think its finally time I started looking at Cisco, its so widely used but every job ive worked at either doesn't want to show me how to use the equipment or they dont use it.

Im familiar with working on L2/L3 switches, vlans, traffic shaping etc but I don't know really where to start with Cisco.

Am i best buying some equipment (dont know what) and building a lab? Or just reading books? I learn more with hands on than from books but obviously both are required.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
