Hi r/networking. Not sure if this is the right sub but figured it couldnt hurt.
I bought some cat6 keystones to terminate cat6 runs I did through the walls and attic. I purchased the keystones, strippers/termination tools, etc from a local State Electric SESCO DataComm store (mainly for professionals but it's right down the street). The guy gave me a print off of T-568B Rj45 Male termination pinout. The keystone Jacks i have are EzSnap Jacks. However, what I dont get is that the colors dont match up.
T568B printout shows
1-organge/white 2-orange 3-green/white 4-blue 5-blue/white 6-green 7-brown/white 8-brown.
EzSnap Jack keystone B pinout as labeled on the "wire guide bar" goes, from left to right:
Brown/white, brown, green, blue, blue/white, green/white, orange/white, orange.
Comparing these together, several pairs would be matched with their striped counterpart, rather than the same.
Specifically,
T568B Male --------‐------‐-------- EzSnap Jack Brown.......................................Brown/white Brown/white.................................Brown Green.............................................green Blue/white......................................blue Blue...........................................blue/white Green/white............................green/white Orange...................................orange/white Orange/white..............................orange
This mismatch seems wrong to me. But this is first rodeo with doing my own ethernet cables. Maybe I'm overthinking it (have an EE Power Systems degree so overthinking is a norm for me)
Please halp
Edit: stupid **** Samsung autocomplete 😤
