I've run into a peculiar situation, wondering if anyone else has and knows what might be happening here.
We've purchased a bunch of new Aruba 2930F switches recently and have been deploying them mostly successfully around our environment. The strange thing is these switches are rejecting actual HP-branded optics.
We've already set the option "allow-unsupported-transceiver", so it's not that. The error message that appears in the log is:
00536 FFI: port 52 Transceiver type not supported in this port.
This is different than the message you get when you don't have "allow-unsupported-transceiver" enabled.
Here's the kicker, though: An Extreme Networks branded transceiver worked! By pure chance we had one laying around; I tried it and it worked. So here we have a switch rejecting its own company's transceivers but working with a completely foreign one.
Here's a picture of the transceivers we tried. They all failed except the Extreme Networks one. What the heck is going on here?

I had to take the photo because it seemed so ridiculous.
