Looking for a good vendor-agnostic "STP for dummies" type resource that will teach me the fundamentals I can apply to multiple brands.

I understand the basics of what STP is for (preventing loops from causing problems), but my knowledge of configuring it doesn't go past "make sure it's turned on".

I have to do a network switch refresh project pretty soon that involves replacing a bunch of Cisco gear with another vendor's products. The environment has a number of deliberately redundant links in it between cores and whatnot, so I need to bone up on STP for configuring the new gear.

If anybody knows of some good reading I can do that's not going to bury me in overly technical minutae or vendor-specific terminology overload (Cisco, I'm looking at you), I'd love to read it. What I'm really looking for is basic conceptual understanding of root bridges, BPDU, which ports and VLANs it should be on for and how to determine that, and other main concepts.
