We have 4 routers arranged in a grid - links from r1 to R2 and r3, R2 links to r1 and r4 etc. Running mpls l3vpn.
We have dual ebgp connections to a voice carrier, via r1 and R2, we have a subnet off R3 which contains out sbc's. The ebgp sessions are configured with BFD -3 X 300ms.
The issue is if I shut down the interface to the voice provider, on the router that is providing the primary route to voice provider then failover time from the sbc's point of view is about 6 seconds, rather than under 1 second.
Is there anyway to speed this up? We have mpls frr running already, and BFD.
Before we moved this setup to our mpls core it was running in a standalone DC, and we achieved sub second failover using IP SLA only
