I've seen a bunch of stuff making reference to going routed to the access layer (the access layer switches hosts are plugged into either participating in the routing process or having a static route back to a router running a routing process).
I can see a benefit here in that there might be an easier migration strategy (let's say we have to break out this part of the datacenter because there's this division was acquired -- okay, you don't need to renumber the IP subnets), but other than that, why should we do this?
