I’m scratching my head trying to pick an ISP for my business and am looking at two different options.
One is cox cable, 200 down 20 up, $160 a month
One is centurylink, 100 down 100 up, $314, or 50/50 for $199.
I really have no idea how to evaluate the practical differences between the two for my business. We don’t have many employees, only four, but two of them are on VOIP phones a lot, along the lines of a call center, so reliability matters in that regard, but not hugely. A little downtime here and there is no big deal.
We also don’t really rely on any uploading either, so the added speed up is nice for the rare time I need to upload a big file, but nothing I’d pay extra for on its own.
So really I’m torn as to figuring out exactly how meaningful the difference is between cox cable and centurylink fiber. Would appreciate any perspective anyone could provide on thinking through a choice like this because in the end I’m signing a contract for a few years, so I’m stuck with my choice!
