I'm currently working on a pretty massive project of deploying an entire new routing and switching infrastructure; actually moving away from STP and into SPBM...every exciting.
Anyway, with this i'm building a bunch of CLI config's, which most of them are identical except for specifics for that specific switch. Currently i'm half-assed using Word's Mail Merge feature; load everything into a spreadsheet, then insert into your 'letter' from there. It's working, but really not intended for this purpose so i feel like i'm putting more effort into this feature than i'm actually getting out of it.
Is there a 'mail merge' tool out there for network engineers? Load in your base config, mark where your variables are, then pull everything out of a table, spreadsheet, something?
How have ya'll deployed new gear using CLI configs (let met nip this in the butt too, an automated deployment model is out of the question....long story...going to be CLI all the way).
