I am currently in school for networking and cyber security and am getting prettying confused with some of the terminology used. I am only in 200 level classes (so pretty new to this whole thing) but I am confused with the difference between a network id and default gateway. Based on the textbook they seem almost the same but act a little different. I’ve mastered how to find the network id and broadcast while subnetting but no one ever actually explains what they are used for. I figured out what a broadcast is but still confused on net id and gateway. I can’t find anything online and the textbooks just make things even more confusing. People on here seem pretty smart (at least smarter than me) so hoping someone can help me out!
