We recently had a power event that took out three POE security cameras that were connected to it. The power event was disconnecting the power to replace the UPS that provides power to that network closet. The work was done by licensed electricians and the vendor who supports our UPS, so I'd like to think it was done reasonably, but who knows.
Either way, when we came back up, three POE cameras (out of 16 that are connected) failed. They will no longer boot back up. I'm assuming there was some sort of power surge that made it through the switch, but I was under the impression that the switch would condition the power that is being delivered to the end devices.
