How do you handle SSL VPN users with poor quality connections?

I have users that stay connected until they hit the 8hour disconnect rule. I have users who can't stay connected more than 15-20 minutes. Almost none of these users have admin access or the ability to install something like Team Viewer so it's very difficult to examine the other half of the VPN connection.

I have shown one technical user how to continuously ping both their wireless gateway and google DNS at the same time. They were able to determine that their problem was with the wireless router. I don't think that is going to work for a lot of users.
