Hi, so in everyone's opinion or having already seen this in their jobs already....when do you think the Cisco CLI will almost completely be null and void? I've read so many things on this with experts saying this like SDN and Python will totally replace it but in what time frame are we looking at here...months...years or even longer? Will things like the CLI for things like the ASA's, Nexus switches, Routers and switches be completely discontinued? And if so when? I've never worked with SDN before (although I do plan to take up Python soon after I've finished somemore learning) but I'm struggling to see how things like python would interact with an ASA or the CLI on it? Would you start writing the config in python or write a script in python to then go and push out commands on the ASA? Or am I totally overthinking this and things like ASA's, Nexus switches, routers and normal switches will always be around for many years to come or never totally be gone? I've come across some senior engineers who don't want anything to do with SDN yet and are happy with the CLI and the normal way things are and don't want to change to. I know the old saying "change is good" but in this case I guess I'm just curious, I've spent the last 3-4 years and dedicated a big part of my life to learn everything networking and I got my CCNP in Feb 2018, which I plan on renewing soon as well. But it feels like its one of those things were you spend so much time learning all this only for someone to pull the rug from under you and say.....this doesn't matter anymore and isn't relevant, go and learn this now instead haha.
Thanks everyone....
