Adding New 2960x Stacks to Network

Hi guys. I will be adding 2 new 2960x switch stacks to our network and as it's something I haven't done before, I wanted to run through the process to see if I am missing anything. Here's what I think the process is after researching:

Stack 1:

  1. Power up and console into the new stack master. I will copy the config of our existing stack to the new master, then set a new management IP, set the switch priority to set it as master and use the 'switch provision' command to get ready to add the other switches.
  • I know that the IOS version needs to be the same on all stack members.
  1. Connect the stacking cable between master and 1st member switch. Power up the member switch. Verify the new stack member is detected by the master.

  2. Do the same for the other switches in the stack and connect the stacking cable to previous switch in stack as necessary.

  3. Connect the stack to the core router by fibre.

Stack 2:

  1. Do the same stacking procedure as above
  2. Create an etherchannel port that connects this stack with the stack above

The topology will be:

Core Router > New Stack 1 (fibre connection) New Stack 1 > New stack 2 (etherchannel)

Have I missed out anything or are there potential issues I should look out for?

Thanks in advance!
