Campus Networks with Philips Hue

Are there other University or Campus network providers out here that have clients wishing to set up Philips Hue devices on your turf? I have perused /r/Hue and found the common advice from users there to be to bring in one's own WiFi Router. We don't allow that as we provide wired and wireless networks to our students and RF interference brings down the experience of others.

I see that the Hue uses Zigbee/2.4GHz and has some lovely potential for RF disruption but have been tasked with performing a fair evaluation of whether or not we will allow these types of devices in our dorms.

On the one hand, we want students to have the ability to explore and take ownership of their space. On the other hand, we would like to have a peaceful ecosystem of technology that students can use without having to worry about their service being disrupted by other students' devices.

We have high-density wireless and already have only every other AP as 5Ghz only. We cannot yet completely eliminate 2.4GHz from our Wireless since we have an unfortunate number of students who use 2.4GHz-only devices.

If I can come to peace with the RF-interference, my thoughts have been to add the student wireless subnet to a wired port in this student's dorm room so that the bridge can discover the other units.

Your thoughts, experiences, wisdom, or policies regarding these types of setups?
