Adding a second LAG (Brocade/Ruckus ICX Switches)

Hi,

I have an ICX7450 with a 40G fibre connection to an ICX7750. The link works great with no errors.

We have another pair of 40G modules to install, so that we can configure a LAG in case one of the fibre links goes down.

Previously, with the exact same setup, we could never get a LAG to run reliably. It eventually started to produce errors on all ports in the LAG. I have started over again with new fibre modules and a single link, and all is well. Now I want to enable the 2nd link.

The user manual is comprehensive, but has no example scenario of adding a second fibre connection to form a new LAG.

Has anyone accomplished this? Otherwise my plan is to go ahead and physically connect the 2nd link and create/deploy a dynamic LAG via the switch web interface.

  • Can we have two connections between the two switches without a LAG, or could this produce loops?
  • Are these models compatible with one another, for 40G fibre module LAG groups?

Thanks,

Benjamin
