Hello,
I'm a software developer that occasionally changes firewall rules and performs basic networking work needed to get software running.
My company recently upgraded their servers, and they gave me their Extreme Summit X480-48t. I'm wanting to setup a more advanced network, perhaps in between a small business and an advanced home network (not looking for home network help on this subreddit).
It goes on eBay for $1-1.5k new, however I understand price is not a reliable metric for performance/quality. Is this switch easier to configure than others, is it more compatible with a specific kind of router, and in general, is it considered a powerful switch for small business needs?
I can teach myself how to program the switch, as it mentions its managed. I'm also curious about the general sentiment that Extreme Networks products have in the networking community.
Here's the spec sheet: https://extremenetworks-ua.com/assets/files/SummitX480/DSSUMX480_1625.pdf
Thanks!
