Possible causes of excessive tcp retransmits

We recently set up some traffic analysis tools on our network, in order to chase down chronic slowness reports. On one segment we are seeing what I believe is a high amount of tcp retransmits, usually 10k to 30k an hour and usually 230k a day.

I couldn’t really find anything wrong when I looked at that point in the network though. No interface errors nor discards.

The segment is a bridged link between a firewall interface and a wan router.
