I recently started managing a pretty horrible network. Everything is weirdly configured, there is no standardization, and it has taken me a week just to figure out how it functions. I am planning to rebuild the network and was wondering if there was any industry standards I should be following? I am relatively new to networking and am not familiar with any. The place I work does not handle money so that is not a concern but what are some good practices to following in network security and are there any standards I should/can follow?
