Encoding information in IPv6 addresses

I'm trying to figure out a scheme where I encode some information about a device into the host portion of its IPv6 address. It's basically the same stuff that we use in the device's hostname, so, whether it's internal or external, whether it's layer two or layer three, etc, etc. I thought to put this data in a few digits in the 5th hextet, so something like 2001:a:b:c:13::1/64 where "13" means a layer three device on the inside of a firewall zone, for example.

Does anybody have any words of wisdom with regards to this? Something you wish you would have included in your initial rollout? Some piece of information that might come in handy later?
